I am captain of J&M Pink Ladies which is a breast cancer charity group.B We have raised, as a team, over $1000 for breast cancer every year.B For the last two years, I have been co-chair of the event, along with my best friend, a breast cancer survivor.B B My friend and I to raise even more awareness for breast cancer, hosted an event this year entitled Lights-n-Sirens which included the Heroes for Hooters Bar Brawl in which police personnel and fire personnel competed for tips.B We set a goal of $2,000 and raised $2,325.
As a result of the success of that event, my friend (Cindy) and I have formed a charitable organization called Heroes for Hooters.B We raise money for breast cancer and promote positive recognition for First Responders (police, fire, ems, military, etc.).B Our line of work and families are very much tied to First Responders and they are very special to us.B This organization just hosted a Police v. Fire Flag Football game.B We are hosting additional events next year to include a Bachelor Auction, a Service Award Recognition Dinner/Dance (where we intend to annually give out a special service award for a First Responder who provides excellent community service not necessarily to our charity but in any capacity), a 5k; a softball tournament; a padded football game, and another Bar Brawl.B We are also forming a Cancer Society Relay for Life Team.B All proceeds raised by Heroes for Hooters will go towards Breast Cancer.B We are anticipating becoming a non-profit 503(c) within the next five years.B We want to leave a legacy for our grandchildren.
